Sharmila Farooqi is a Pakistani politician who served as an advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh from September 2008 till January 31, 2011.[1][2] She is the granddaughter of N M Uqaili and daughter of Usman Farooqi, who was a bureaucrat and a former Chairman of Pakistan Steel Mill. Farooqi is the niece of Salman Farooqi, a well-known confidante of President Asif Ali Zardari.[3] Farooqi earnt a master’s degree in business administration from the Adamson Institute of Business Administration and Technology, Karachi and a master’s degree in law.[3] She is engaged to Hashaam Riaz Sheikh.[4]

Ballistic Missile Hatf IV Shaheen-1.

Pakistan conducted a successful launch of Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile Hatf IV Shaheen-1.

The missile incorporates series of improvements in range and technical parameters of the existing missile. It is capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads to a range of 900 kms.

Today’s launch, whose impact point was at sea, was witnessed by Director General Strategic Plans Division Lieutenant General (r) Khalid Ahmed Kidwai, Chairman NESCOM Mr Muhammad Irfan Burney and other senior military officers, scientists and engineers.

Director General Strategic Plans Division Lieutenant General (r) Khalid Ahmed Kidwai congratulated all scientists and engineers on the successful launch.

He said that the improved version of Shaheen 1 has consolidated and strengthened Pakistan’s deterrence abilities manifold. He appreciated the efforts of all personnel for their dedication and professionalism
